The Northwest Icemen lost their season opener 6-1 at Ashland on Friday, Nov. 18.

Northwest’s roster is not as big as in past years, due to Spooner leaving the local boys hockey co-op. The team still has skaters from Barron, Cameron, Chetek-Weyerhaeuser and Cumberland, and added a player each from Bloomer and Boyceville this season. The co-op no longer has the numbers to support a junior varsity team.
